Anime Screened
Originally screened during Henry's Reign. This caused all the old members to break out in fits of nostalgia, and new schoolers to cement either their love or hate for Anno Hideaki (Helena broke out in fits of fangirl).
Best inappropriate use of Ray Charles, EVAR!
Contains female proto-Shinji, complete with father issues! Also, the greatest commercial break music EVAR. Great as in "capable of defending against robot onslaught through sheer noise penetration". Good when viewed with 80's otaku knowledge.
This was featured in our Anime Central 2003 Skit.
Sushu liked the first dozen or so character-establishing episodes. The pretense at mysteeerious plot quite ruins the mood, though. Helena was an excellent Robin.
Really, it makes more sense if you read the books...
Featured in our 2004 Skit.
EVA, except less whiny, and with large *singing* mecha. Main charater is 17 and much cuter than Shinji. Also the characters are more realistic, and the ending is even harder to understand (if that's possible?).
Rukmini convinced us to screen this. A (shonen ai) show about a lead singer of a band and a reclusive author who fall in love. Stephen says, "I think it's terrible, but not for the reason you might think (also the music sucks)." Rukmini says, "Well, yes, it kind of is, but I just wanted to confirm that we weren't a bunch of homophobes. Plus, it's still better than some of the other stuff we screened, Stephen. Also, be glad I didn't push for us to screen Ai no Kusabi or Haru wo Daite Ita though I think that would have been hilarious in many ways."
A show about two deadly female assassins with amazing skill and a sexy attitude, which somehow managed to be boring.
Sushu sez: "beautiful music, but the taint of Destiny and Mysticism is too strong with this one."
Jon Lung says: "Having the same music for almost every episode didn't help either. It also shares Rurouni Kenshin's affection for neon purple 'blood.'"
The reason officers occasionally break into song. "Tsukurimashou, tsukurimashou, sate sate nani ga~ dekiru ka na"
the heat friction caused by the kite string strung between the third floor and the courtyard ate through plastic bags... plastic bags with duct tape handles... and the plastic handle of a bucket. Much anime fell en route. Kenshin duplicates were lost
