A strange phenomenon that happens at the end of almost every GAINAX series. More stock footage and animation "tricks" are used that make the show look like it has lost all of its animation budget. This may or may not be the case; despite the popularity of Eva, GAINAX is always rumoured to be broke. Apologists claim that Anno Hideaki (if he in fact is the director) is simply a genius.
