The end of the world, as either a physical or philosophical concept, has intrigued philosophers and religious pundits for millennia. Armageddon, Apocalypse, the Millennium, the Singularity, the End of Days, Ragnarok, Judgment Day, and Kali Yuga are just a few of the names by which the end of the world is known in various religions and cultures. Those of a more secular bent see the coming of the end times in the form of global warming, overpopulation, or a host of other calamities. The study of the end of the world is called eschatology, not to be confused with that other thing.
