Subject: Bun sales

Hi there,

This is L----- Leong with CUSA, the one who spoke with you about selling
buns in Cobb. I apologize for just abruptly cornering you this morning
about this issue. Everyone in our group, myself included, is pretty worn
out after daily rehearsals for our culture show this past Saturday so
please excuse me if I came off a bit edgy. However, I did want to speak
to you seriously about this matter.

We have no qualms with your organization holding a fundraiser, but you
have to understand that selling buns is not just a cash cow to CUSA. It
was our board from ten years ago that started bun sales at the U of C,
and since then, it has become an annual tradition. There was a
gentlemen's agreement among all the RSOs that CUSA was the only one
sells buns on campus. Even other Chinese cultural groups like the
Mahjong Society or the Wushu Club did not. It was not until last year
when the women's crew team took one of the boxes we threw out and found
the bakery in Chinatown that we purchase the buns from was this
agreement broken. Since then, everyone seems to think that everyone can
fundraise with buns. The community service fraternity, the Math Club,
Henderson House, and now your group started doing it. We've already
talked to the other organizations about this issue and they have stopped
selling buns out of respect for CUSA. I'm hoping you will do the same.

This isn't about the money, because if you were to have our treasurer
show you the math from our bun sales last quarter when we worked eight
hour days for five days straight, you would see that we barely broke
even. It's not as efficient of a fundraising technique as one might think.

CUSA has not co-opted another organization's event on campus and we ask
that you show the same consideration.

Thank you for your time.

Yours truly,

L--------- Leong
